Balance Grade Calculator
The number stamped on a steel-tip set is the barrel on its own. Fit a point, a stem and a flight and you are throwing something several grams heavier, balanced somewhere nobody publishes. Weigh the four parts, measure them, and this returns what you are actually holding: assembled mass, the balance point as a percentage of overall length from the tip, and the Balance Grade that follows from it.
Point
Exposed length: tip to the front face of the barrel.
Barrel
Front face to back face, weighed off the dart.
Stem
Exposed length only, not the threaded section.
Flight
Along the dart, from the slot to the tail edge.
Lay the assembled dart across a straight edge, slide it until it sits level, then measure from the tip. Enter it to check the build-up against the bench.
